2019 signs the great return of sacred musical monsters that we thought by now incontrovertibly dispersed in the depths of their studies: from Amon Tobin, who returns to the scene with a new recording after 8 years (Fear in a Handful of Dust, Nomark Records) to the austrian Fennesz with his latest work Agora, 5 years after the previous Bécs (Editions Mego).
Christian Fennesz’s new effort will be hosted by Centro Stabile di Cultura on May 26th: Agora live is an ethereal, dusty and electrifying long journey suspended between nebulous drone orchestrations and intimate dilated atmospheres. This album, composed and recorded in a small room in his apartment, allows Fennesz to get rid of the superfluous, adapting fearlessly to a new look that proves to be everything but defective. The Viennese artist, former collaborator of Ryuichi Sakamoto and Mike Patton, explains: «I didn’t have the courage to exploit all the tools and devices that I had available. I used everything that came into my hands ». Mies van der Rohe could not have said better how much less is more!
