A new exhibition at Hauser & Wirth Zurich, Bahnhofstrasse 1, coinciding with Zurich Art Weekend, brings together the work of two of the greatest artists of the 20th century: Alberto Giacometti and Pablo Picasso.

With a selection of post-war works, the exhibition ‘Facing Infinity. Alberto Giacometti & Pablo Picasso’, curated by Dr Dieter Buchhart, opens new insights into the artists’ questioning of existence and their endless search for the relationship of figure and space. In Picasso’s late work, the aim to exorcise death becomes latent through the portrayal of emotions and sensual motifs; imbued with a sense of urgency as he paints against time. In contrast, Giacometti’s restless inquiries linger on the void between forms, the indivisibility of the human being, and the question of proximity and distance.
