Lo studio giapponese MEDUM arriva a Back12 con Light is Shadow, un’installazione che gioca sul sottile equilibrio tra luce e buio. Al centro c’è Awai, il concetto giapponese che vive negli spazi tra gli opposti. Qui prende forma attraverso fogli elettroluminescenti che diffondono una luce soft, minimal e sorprendentemente efficiente. Accanto, una piccola mostra d’archivio racconta prototipi e processi dello studio fondato da Shintaro Monden, ex Nendo: perché anche il design hi-tech, ogni tanto, funziona meglio quando abbassa le luci.

Japanese studio MEDUM comes to Back12 with Light is Shadow, an installation that plays on the subtle balance between light and dark. At its core is Awai, the Japanese concept that exists in the spaces between opposites. Here, it takes shape through electroluminescent sheets that diffuse a soft, minimal, and surprisingly efficient light. Next door, a small archival exhibition showcases the prototypes and processes of the studio founded by Shintaro Monden, formerly of Nendo: because even high-tech design sometimes works better when the lights are dimmed.
