Il programma di quest’anno si articola attorno ai temi che scaturiscono dai tre profili culturali che sostengono la filosofia e il progetto stesso di Kia: Culture Vanguard, ovvero coloro che vanno oltre i codici consolidati per immaginare paesaggi culturali sovversivi; Creative Risk-takers, chi abbraccia l’incertezza come sfida, sapendo che il rischio è necessario alla crescita; e Relentless Innovators, profili che espandono con tenacia i limiti del possibile, intrecciando connessioni tra discipline per articolare nuove visioni del presente e di ciò che ci attende.

La conversazione “Realism and the Portraiture of Memory” chiede di riflettere attorno ai metodi visivi e alle narratologie appropriate per raccontare il contemporaneo. A priori dei registri stilistici che dominano il contemporaneo, dal realismo sociale ai toni più favolistici, le buone storie esprimono una necessità impellente: quella di inquadrare i fatti e gli avvenimenti – storici ed emotivi – in prospettive capaci di mescolare familiarità e catarsi, realtà e immaginazione, e d’essere immediatamente efficaci innanzi al pubblico.

The new cycle of conferences revolves around Kia’s design philosophy, Opposites United, a way of thinking that transforms tensions and contradictions into generative forces for design. This year’s program is structured around the themes emerging from the three cultural profiles that underpin Kia’s philosophy and design itself: Culture Vanguard, those who go beyond established codes to imagine subversive cultural landscapes; Creative Risk-takers, those who embrace uncertainty as a challenge, knowing that risk is necessary for growth; and Relentless Innovators, profiles that persistently expand the limits of what is possible, weaving connections across disciplines to articulate new visions of the present and what lies ahead.

The conversation “Realism and the Portraiture of Memory” invites reflection on the visual methods and narrative forms suited to representing the contemporary. Prior to and beyond the stylistic registers that dominate the present, from social realism to more fable-like tones, good stories express an urgent necessity: to frame facts and events—both historical and emotional—within perspectives capable of blending familiarity and catharsis, reality and imagination, and of being immediately effective for audiences.
