“In some far off place / I build a world of abstract dreams / and wait for you”. Thus spoke Sun Ra, the man from Saturn, the astrophysicist, the poet, the inventor of psychedelia, the supreme guide who landed on earth to tune humanity. Thus spoke Sun Ra shortly before leaving on an intergalactic spaceship towards infinite space: “Outer space is a place where you can be free / there’s no limit to the things you can do / your thought is free and your life is worthwhile / space is the place”. The Arkestra is still among us, capturing and then transmitting to us its sonic influences, the variable composition ensemble that accompanied him since the 1950s in exploring our globe. Led by the sound of Marshall Allen’s sax, followed by all those who had lived on Mars until yesterday: people who do not need new discoveries but only to spread new knowledge.
