Signorina Primavolta

Quante aspettative riposte nelle “prime volte”. Il corpo che, incontrollabile, freme all’idea dei primi passi, del primo giorno di scuola, del primo esame, del primo bacio, del primo amore, del primo rapporto, della prima guida, del primo viaggio, del primo giorno di lavoro, della prima festa, della prima trasgressione, del primo trasloco. E dopo la prima volta cosa c’è? Un’altra prima volta ancora perché niente rimane… come prima.

IKEA in questo Fuorisalone presenterà in via Tortona, 1st. (First), una mostra-evento che esplora i tanti inizi che noi fortunati viviamo quando ci trasferiamo in case nuove.
I nostri appartamenti sono sempre serviti per dividerci e isolarci dal resto del mondo, spazi chiusi dove poter collezionare ciò che ci rappresenta e ciò che ci fa sentire al sicuro. Per la prima volta però, trovandoci fuori delle nostre tane ma in un ambiente vagamente domestico, potremmo iniziare a pensare a tutto ciò che, visibile o invisibile, abita insieme a noi e quanto i confini murari delle case possano essere abbattuti facendoci diventare abitanti del mondo.

So many expectations placed on “first times”. The body uncontrollably quivers at the thought of first steps, the first day of school, the first exam, the first kiss, the first love, the first relationship, the first drive, the first trip, the first day of work, the first party, the first transgression, the first move. And after the first time, what’s next? Another first time, because nothing remains… as before.

During this Fuorisalone, IKEA will present at Via Tortona, 1st (First), an event exploring the many beginnings we fortunate ones experience when moving into new homes.
Our apartments have always served to divide and isolate us from the rest of the world, closed spaces where we can collect what represents us and what makes us feel safe. But for the first time, finding ourselves outside our dens but in a vaguely domestic environment, we might start thinking about everything that, visible or invisible, lives with us and how the walls of houses can be broken down, making us inhabitants of the world.
