Why reserve only to Christmas period the happiness to sink your teeth in that fluffy and fragrant yellow paste called “panettone”. Good news for its lovers or who would like to indulge to the temptations of a slice of it without waiting for the snow. Vergani’s shop, cafè and ice cream, recently opened at a few steps from the Crocetta tube stop in Corso di Porta Romana. This very Milanese family follow proudly and since four generations one of the most important confectionery tradition of the city: the panettone of Milan, as their motto says.

Vergani’s ice cream corner

In this welcoming confectionary boutique you can buy all Vergani products, from the traditional panettone to the vegan one, not forgetting jams, spread creams and dry pastry biscuits. A place in which you can stop from breakfast onwards to celebrate a sweet – even outside of the season – that doesn’t deserve to be consumed only in December. Taste it with a cappuccino, as a midmorning snack or with an ice cream in the street food fashion. A brilliant idea is the panettone à porter, a nice idea to have instead of the usual croissant: a panettone with the shape of a little loaf to fill up with the artisanal ice cream of Alberto Marchetti, ice cream master from Turin.

The panettone à porter filled with pistachio and zabaglione

Zabaione, bonet, pistachio, or even the same panettone are among the tastes used to fill the take away sweet. Lightness (related to its category), easy to digest and a surprising taste at every bite. A little further away there is a well known competitor concerning ice creams, but you can trust me, it is really worth to stop in this place that celebrates the Milanese tradition and the made in Italy. How to forget indeed that Vergani family is among the very few people who still have their own production in the city: this one is located in via Oristano.
