UN AMI SIMPLE

Galerie Eva Presenhuber is pleased to announce a special exhibition by Valentin Carron in the Rämistrasse space. Carron will present a series of over 20 new collages and two new copper sculptures, inspired by his recent installation, Un Ami Simple (A Simple Friend), at the Mauvoisin Dam in Valais, organized by Le Musée des Bagnes.

For his open-air exhibition at 2,000 meters, which took place from June to September this year, Carron created 30 paneled works focused on the image of the mule—an emblematic figure of effort, endurance, and composure. Carron was inspired by an illustration found on the internet and the tales of Jean de la Fontaine. The new collages also feature the mule motif and can be seen as a continuation of Un Ami Simple. Carron’s newest publication, Un Ami Simple, will be available for in-person purchase for the duration of the exhibition.

Valentin Carron was born in 1977 in Martigny, CH, where he still lives and works. Carron has been the subject of recent solo exhibitions in museums including Le Consortium, Dijon, FR (2020); Galerie Art & Essai, Rennes, FR (2018), Centre d’edition contemporaine, Geneva, CH (2016); Kunsthalle Bern, Bern, CH (2014); Palais de Tokyo, Paris, FR (2010); La Conservera Centro de Arte Contemporáneo, Ceuti/Murcia, ES (2009); and Kunsthalle Zürich, Zurich, CH (2007). In 2013, Carron represented Switzerland at the 55th Venice Biennale.
