Brazilian design is back at the FuoriSalone under the aegis of Be Brasil, which once again this year presents sixty Brazilian designers, offering insight into a talented nation where design is now a driving force of the economy. Brazil is interpreted through the language of design from the 1940s to today. This means not only Bo Bardi, Rodriguez and Niemeyer, but younger designers who seek to rejuvenate a perception of design that is still closely associated with either the Campana Brothers or a propensity for woodwork. A retrospective of iconic pieces stands alongside interactive installations and large-scale exhibitions from Rio + Design to name but one, all part of a cultural promotion project with strong support from a government that is keen to export its valid contemporary artistic culture.
