Conoscenza incarnata: “umarelling”

«Oh, finalmente mettono a posto». E mentre strisciamo i talloni camminando con le mani in tasca fino a quando non ci troviamo davanti alle grate coperte di plastica bucherellata arancione, ci fermiamo, incerti sulle gambe. In quel momento, senza avere possibilità di controllo sul corpo, le nostre mani vanno dietro la schiena e si incrociano. Rimangono così finché il nostro sguardo affamato non trova qualcosa da indicare. Così allunghiamo l’indice della mano destra una verso l’oggetto del desiderio e mantenendo il dorso sinistra appoggiato dietro, lanciando occhiate d’intesa ai nostri compari. Dopo esserci rischiarati la voce dal catarro, iniziamo a parlare dubbiosi con gli operai. Specialmente se ci iniziano a raccontare di programmi di mostre, installazioni, workshops, conferenze e talks con la partecipazione di architettə e designer internazionali, elencando parole strane come Sam Chermayeff, Berlin; WE+, Tokyo; Archimosphere, Seoul;  Adam Stech, Prague; WASP 3d printing, Italia; XL Extralight, Italia; Muthesius University, Kiel; Fake Authentic, Italia; 6am, Italia; SOCII collective, Tbilisi. In pieno stile umarell, proviamo a capire Dropcity che per questo Fuorisalone prensenta “In Progress”: inizia il cantiere dell’assetto definitivo di Dropcity, Centro di Architettura e Design – ideato e curato dall’architetto Andrea Caputo – la cui apertura è prevista entro la fine del 2024.

«Oh, they finally get it together». As we shuffle, hands in pockets, until we reach the orange-perforated plastic-covered grates, we stop, unsure on our feet. At that moment, without control over our bodies, our hands go behind our backs and cross. They stay like that until our hungry gaze finds something to point out. So we extend the index finger of our right hand towards the desired object, keeping the left hand’s back resting behind, exchanging knowing glances with our companions. After clearing our throats from phlegm, we start talking to the workers, whom we obviously consider incompetent. Especially if they start telling us about exhibition programs, installations, workshops, conferences, and talks involving international architects and designers, listing strange words like Sam Chermayeff, Berlin; WE+, Tokyo; Archimosphere, Seoul; Adam Stech, Prague; WASP 3D printing, Italy; XL Extralight, Italy; Muthesius University, Kiel; Fake Authentic, Italy; 6am, Italy; SOCII collective, Tbilisi. At our seventy years, we’re just trying to understand Dropcity, presenting “In Progress”: the definitive setup of Dropcity, the Architecture and Design Center – conceived and curated by architect Andrea Caputo – whose opening is scheduled by the end of 2024.
