Gli Artisti

  • Chevel

    Italian Showcase

Be it dusty midweek house, heady anytime techno – and about everything else in between

    – Dario Tronchin has made his presence known as the constantly evolving Chevel.

Hailing from Treviso, Italy, in 2009 a teenage Tronchin made his first move to Berlin – a city

that would recall him again and again in the subsequent years. The electronic capital’s

clubs and record stores made their immortal impression; Tronchin bought his first set of

gear and wrote the Stroboscopic Artefacts record that would quietly launch his career. His

mature palette and intuition struck a chord with label chief Lucy, who made a set of his

early analogue works the very first Monad I release in 2010. It made sense, then, for

Chevel to open proceedings at the Stroboscopic Five Year show at Berghain in 2014, hot

off the back of One Month Off, Chevel’s long-awaited follow-up EP for the label. This was

in fact his third Berghain outing following sets with Non Series—his other main ally—and a

lasting prime-time debut the summer before.

In 2012, now back in Treviso, Tronchin launched Enklav. with a back-to-back flurry of own

productions. Totalling four EPs brimming with five to seven tracks each, the cache of

abstract works covering everything from cavernous acid-dub to subaqueous house

flaunted the true depths of Tronchin’s abilities. These were followed-up by Apply Within,

Tronchin’s first full-length record, again self-released through Enklav. the label has since

grown into a 10-strong collective of pensive club music lovers with an affinity for lush,

analogue sound. Together they’ve hosted several showcases around Italy with roster

artists and associates of the label. And in March 2013 Enklav. went vinyl with Tronchin’s

    own Rediscovery release.

Monday Night Records is his other initiative, an outlet for moody house explorations under

the same moniker. Then there’s Signalweiss, an alias that debuted on the newly-minted

Fracture Label with Artificial towards the end of 2014. That same year Tronchin turned his

hand to a more bass-laden techno sound for Beneath’s Mistry imprint. The potent Tank /

Beaviane was the result, an idiosyncratic take on the UK sound Tronchin has always been

    influenced by.

But it’s not all about outer-rim experiments, Non Series is where you’ll find the straightest

of Chevel’s techno works. In 2012 he joined the label with Hearing EP and has toured with

them through Europe ever since. His flair and compatibility with longer formats made him

the ideal candidate to write the first Non Series album. Air Is Freedom saw Tronchin strike

a balance between his freeform Enklav. releases and something decidedly dance floor-
focused. Happa and French Fries were then tipped for remixes, released as a two-track

EP at the end of 2014. Now there’s plan for a third LP, due out on Stroboscopic Artefacts

    in summer 2015.

It’s an quite an accruement for someone still as relatively fresh-faced as Tronchin.

Berghain was his first Berlin gig – the first year he really took to DJing.

2013 also saw him play several times in Paris and at Norberg festival, Sweden. He’s since

added Nuits Sonores, Fuse in Bruxelles, Altavoz Festival, Pulse in Venice and gigs at Goa

in Rome to the credentials. In 2015 Tronchin will debut in the UK, perform live for the first

time at Concrete in Paris, and wield his first seven hour DJ set in Barcelona at Be Cool

during Sonar with the Stroboscopic crew. All the versatility he shows on record he brings

to the booth, making Tronchin an exciting young anomaly no matter where you encounter

    him.

  • Dumbo Gets Mad

    Bad Panda Records

Dumbo Gets Mad started in the summer of 2010 in a basement.
Two souls combined, out of space and time,
till a first song finally came out.
    Plumy tale it was,
and in a little bit they started working on a first album,
    with Bad Panda.
2011 was the year of “Elephants At The Door”,
and dreamy and fantastic stories were told.
Two years later there was “Quantum Leap”,
and we rationally let the warmth of the sun
enlighten our brains producing weird and trippy sounds.
It’s seems other two years passed by,
    and now it’s time.
Jumping on the planets of our imagination,
    that can contain the universe
    and even more,
    we explore different feelings
    while exploring different worlds.

  • Denny Berland

    Ego Music

Denny Berland is back, the Italian DJ and producer born under the

good star of house music. And this time he goes together with the

vocal by Sean and a remix by The Him, the Dutch duo on

everyone’s mouth (who just released a collab with Sam Feldt).

The new track by Denny Berland is “Love For You”. The sound by

The Him gives the original a special future house touch winking at

tropical, with their style between indie, deep house, nu disco and

pop, full of fresh, experimental sounds. The track has already been

played by The Him and Sam Feldt during one of their Spinnin’

Sessions. We definitely have some Love For You.

  • Go Dugong

    Italian Showcase

Giulio Fonseca is the name behind the moniker of Go Dugong: an underwater creature that lives through delicate

chillstep streams, reefs of muscular beats and hip hop ocean floors, able to reach the deepest abyss of sentiment

    to lie on it.

Imagine his career as a path that twists and turns in multifaceted directions, just like a prism in which any of

its cuts reflects a different angle of his growing career. If his first EP, “White Sun” (2012, AMDISCS), has been

easily seduced by the contemporary blaze of chillwave, his follow-up “Carry a Flag”, a 7’’out for LebensStrasse,

represents the embrace of pop sonorities and it bears the signature of Life & Limb too.

“Was” released in late 2013 affirms Go Dugong as one of the best Italybased producer of latest years, able to

converge different sonic arteries to a unique heart-beat.

“A Love Explosion” (Fresh Yo! Label – Febraury 2015) is Go Dugong first full length, and it verges his continuous

seeking towards tribal and hybrid sonorities, to stir the souls of listeners here there and everywhere.

  • Jolly Mare

    Bad Panda Records

Jolly Mare, born Fabrizio in the southern sunny region of Apulia, says music has been a substantial part of his life since childhood. It isn’t hard to believe. His sets and his productions are a gleeful mixture of influences, from italo disco to soul, from pure electronica to Italian pop singer/songwriters. A professional turntablist, it seems Fabrizio is disturbingly good at everything he does, be it playing a live set, recording a maniacally perfect-sounding track or designing the artwork for his releases. After his experience at the Red Bull Music Academy in New York and a few very successful tracks,he was invited to play at Sónar festival in Barcelona, one of the most important electronic music events in the world – and he was the only Italian to take part. Fabrizio has been defined abroad “The new face of Italian Disco”

  • Jumbo

    Ego Music

Jumbo P is an Italian electronic DJ/producers duo. They are two friends who share the same passion: deep

rhythms & chill melodies. In May 2015 Jumbo P won the second place of the “White Lies remix contest” held

by American EDM heavyweights Odesza. Odesza chose their remix above 8.000 other remixes. Jumbo P

feat. David Julien – I Feel You is their very first release out on Hysterical. David Julien is an in-demand talen-
ted singer and songwriter who was in the finals of The Voice UK. His thrilling voice and songwriting talents

add passion to a wonderful track where future house and an intense piano line join in the perfect mix.

  • Marco Dassi

    Ego

Marco Dassi is a young emerging artist from Varese, Italy. Marco started spending his days creating electronic dance music since he was 22 years old. Marco’s groovy techno, deep and disco tracks are created from synthetic samples, analogical rhythmic elements and hypnotic bass lines. They include nuances of his Italian roots: Marco’s work is singularly deep and includes a sensibility that is intermittently harmonic. His sound keeps evolving whereas he maintains his unique style.
Check it now and don’t miss his “Wild Experience EP” out on Hysterical.

disappear. But the wind will carry us.
