Recondite.
Remote, isolated, lost: Berg, Bavaria, a peripheral place of birth where people are of few words and, apparently, of scant emotion.
Enigmatic, intimate, profound: like the sound of Berlin, where physiotherapist Lorenz Bunner arrived in 2009, became Recondite and debuted at the Panorama Bar. Almost ten years have passed and his ascent has been accompanied by some of the most interesting production around.
Recondite is one of few that can switch from subtle ambient to fast-paced dance music and in the meantime compose hits that you’ll later find on the tracklist of an HBO series. Rich yet ambiguous melodies make way for the straight 4/4 of absorbing techno. All his live shows are shaped in the image and likeness of what he hears from the audience, mingling creation and performance to put on a brand-new set every time.
Always recognisable, never the same, the boy is versatile and knows what he’s doing when it comes to dragging people onto the dancefloor. True German Engineered Design , tonight at Amnesia.
