After an average set at Robot last year, I must admit I had my doubts about the artistic endurance of two of electronica’s medium heavyweights, Daphni and Floating Points. Then Sam released “Aelenia” and Daphni performed a textbook set in a London club and I made peace with them both. Especially after seeing Floating Points on top form at the keyboard during a tribute evening to Gil Scott-Heron. He joined the rest of the orchestra onstage at Convergence festival to accompany a series of artists as they reinterprated Gil’s musical poetry. An all-round artist then, who is able to transcend the comfortable club space. It is with this same faith that we wait to see what he can do at an event for a clothing multinational.
