This year has been called the year of Mondrian due to the hundredth anniversary of the De Stijl movement. And it is, of course, the theme of the Masterly – The Dutch in Milan event at Palazzo Turati. We have selected two works by Kas Oosterhuis and Ilona Lénárd, respectively head architect at the studio ONL-The innovation studio and visual artist founder of the Attila Foundation. The parametric BYYU 72 Mondrian chair – exhibited here in two other wooden and fabric versions – reunites all the structural components of the chair – legs, back and seat – in a single system based on the repetition of a single parametric detail, a triangular shape. MYMONDRIAN (in day and night versions) is a tapestry in Jacquard fabric that redevelops the famous Victory Boogie Woogie painting in 3D, inspired by the Manhattan grid.
