Turin, November 2014, Club 2 Club, the first year the festival was held at Lingotto Fiere for two evenings in a row. The final set of the first night, 4 till 6, was in the hands of the Talaboman project: John Talabot and Axel Boman. All they had to their name at that point was the single Sideral, an obsessive mental trip of congas, bongos and penetrating notes. Keeping thousands of people in a cold pavilion can’t be easy, regardless of how experienced the DJs are. But the combo of Axel’s wound-up but not too wound up house and John’s obsessive percussion and balearic sounds – revisited with a deep touch – kept my body glued to the dancefloor, while I lost control of my mind (or perhaps the other way round…). It was a memorable closure! Just imagine what they might get up to in a club. The pair also have an album out now for R&S; entitled “The Night Land”, it is a near perfect journey of sound.
