“Arp took me to the foundry where it had been cast and I fell so in love with it that I asked to have it in my hands. The instant I felt it I wanted to own it“. These are the words with which Peggy Guggenheim speaks about her debut as an art collector. This “confession” can be read in her autobiography Una vita per l’arte (Rizzoli Editori, Milan, 1998), or in the presentation of the new exhibition housed in Palazzo Venier dei Leoni exhibition center. “La natura di Arp” (from April 13th to September 2nd) focuses on the figure of the Franco-German artist Jean (Hans) Arp (1886–1966) founder of the Dada movement and pioneer of abstraction.
